Press Release

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Minor White’s birth, Howard Greenberg Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of the artist’s photographs. Curated with photographer Nathan Lyons, the exhibition will feature seminal works that span the artist’s remarkable career. Minor White’s contribution to the field of photography was formidable; in addition to being a master craftsman, he was also a highly influential writer, critic, curator, editor and life-long teacher. The house in Rochester, New York that White occupied from the mid-1950s through the mid-1960s, functioned as a valued meeting place for a number of photographers as well as the editorial offices of Aperture Magazine, which White founded in 1952 with photographers Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Barbara Morgan, and photographic historians Beaumont Newhall and Nancy Newhall.
