Joel Meyerowitz on What He Learned About Street Photography from Garry Winogrand

"Photographer Joel Meyerowitz met Winogrand in 1962. For three years, they strolled the New York City streets together in search of “unexpected moments,” Meyerowitz says. They followed a set routine. “Garry and I pounded the streets every day,” he says. “From first thing in the morning at a greasy spoon on Columbus Avenue and 96th Street, we walked through the park to Fifth Avenue, and we’d spend the day walking up and down Fifth Avenue, just talking, watching life.”
