French photographer Simon Chaput (b.1952) lives and works in New York. Widely published in magazines and books, Simon Chaput has produced many narrative stories on Buddhism and ancient cultures that require quiet appreciation and visual perception of mood and timing. His personal work includes a suite of images of the Stone Observatories of Jai Singh in Jaipur, India and a suite of modernist views of Manhattan's architecture. Both bodies of work are representative of Chaput's interest in abstraction and negative space.

Chaput has also worked with award winning directors and producers on documentary films. He is a close associate of the artists Christo and Jean-Claude, working with them on many of their projects and exhibitions over the past fifteen years. Chaput was the recipient of a photography grant from the Henry Luce Foundation.
