Miroslav Tichy Foundation Releases a New Book: Screenshots

Miroslav Tichy Foundation

On the occasion of the book launch, Edizioni Periferia presents the exhibition "Miroslav Tichy - Screenshots" in Lucerne until the end of December. The exhibition and book are a co-production with Edizioni Periferia, Lucerne. In his lecture, Roman Buxbaum tells the story of Miroslav Tichy and shows many photos of the artist and his world in Kyjov in the 80s and 90s.

In the 1970s and 80s, Miroslav Tichy repeatedly photographed his television screen.
In the small town of Kyjov, near the Austrian border, where he lived, he was able to escape the narrowness and prudery of censorship in the Eastern Bloc and watch the Austrian television station with its Western films and more liberal evening programs.
Miroslav Tich took photographs every day, consistently continuing his practice from the art academy: it was an exercise in searching, pursuing and ultimately reproducing the female body.
